Have you ever had that Eureka moment when you’ve just realised where you have been going wrong for the last few days/months/years?

I often have them but generally they are in relation to my character flaws. This time, however, it was in relation to my blogging problems.

My Eureka moment is based around titles. Blog titles in particular. This is how you encourage people to read your blog posts. Readers are more likely to click on an interesting blog title such as ‘WWF campaigns against Bear baiting‘ rather than ‘Bear baiting is not cool.’

The latter blog title is rather lame. Uninteresting and definitely pretty obvious. There can’t be that many people out there that do think bear baiting is cool. But the former title gains your attention. It makes you think and no doubt you will immediately start asking questions.

Is bear baiting back in vogue again? Wasn’t it stamped out or abolished years ago? Why is it back in the news again?

The latter title is almost child-like in construction. It certainly won’t appeal to those readers that would be interested in Animal Rights and Welfare.

Of course, whether the rest of your post continues to draw your readers in is another matter. But, at least you’re off to a flying start with an interesting title.

So, who used that rather lame title above? Me. Yes, I am ashamed to admit it was me. Am I going to change it? You bet! Right now, as soon as I can log in to my account…

As my title says, I’m biding my time. Waiting for the time that I’m back to my usual creative self. I’m currently awaiting blood results for an under-active thyroid.

It’s a crippling condition where you suffer from tiredness, sluggishness, weakness, a sensitivity to cold, weight-gain, joint and muscle pain and depression.

It’s not a condition that leaves you with a huge amount of creativity left. As a sufferer of pernicious anemia, I’m already at risk of developing this disorder. Both are auto-immune conditions.

So, you should forgive me if I’m feeling a little bit under-par. Currently, I can just about bring myself to update my squidoo lenses but even they have been neglected. Blogging, has been too.

So, you can see how much of a problem I have at the moment.

On the plus side, I’m working on a horror short story which will be made into a short film. I’ve also several erotic short stories awaiting self-publication. Everything has been put on hold for a time due to my ill health. I do apologise for that.

I do hope you’ll stick with me; I’ll try and keep you updated with any news on the health and writing side of things.

Will see you soon, I hope.

I’d like to think that I’m pretty computer/internet savvy. But, the occasional scam does get through. Luckily, I have AVG installed on my computer and it caught this pretty quick.

This is a so-called Facebook app that claims it can tell you who has visited your facebook profile page recently. I’m pretty sure that this has done the rounds once or twice before. Don’t ask me why I fell for it this time

Anyway, you are encouraged to click on a wall post that one of your friends’ has signed up to and you are taken to the usual App installation page.

The page goes white and lettering in big black letters are plastered at the top asking you to wait whilst it searches…

Then, you are asked to sign up to an offer before you can view your results. Click on the given link and a new window will open with an error message. Clicking back to the app reveals that nothing has happened…AVG jumps in here with a Threat message that it has caught the ‘thing’.

It leaves you worrying about what the hell happened. I immediately changed my Facebook password. Incidentally, a posting is made on your wall (without your permission), recommending this piece of ****.

‘Nuff said.

Now, I’ll just go and crawl back under the rock I came out from under.

Twitter / @minskinnywin/writers-authors.

The above list on Twitter is one I set up not that long ago. In this short time it has grown to over 350 members and continues to grow on a daily basis.

I’m highlighting it here because it has proved to be a success in social networking and marketing terms for me and especially for others.

I set up a lot of things; weblogs, lists, websites etc. but very few ever take off. Mainly because, for some reason or other, they are removed or deleted, usually by me.

I probably have a reputation on the web for not being consistent, so I receive very little support in my endeavours..it’s a vicious circle. I am my own worst enemy in that respect.

How can I expect to gain support, subscribers and readers if my sites don’t stick around?

But, this list, has allowed me to gain some confidence and maybe a little kudos on the web.

Well worth it!
